There are plenty of game development and design courses online. Some of them are great, some only give you basic information, and some do not even give accurate information. So, which one you should choose to be a professional game developer?
I’ve picked some of the professional courses online that can take you to the next level. Still, I’m always suggesting starting with beginner free courses on YouTube, or some general courses on Udemy for a fair price. But after you finish those courses, you might not know what to do next to become a professional. Here are some excellent courses that can take you to the next level.
Thiago Klafke — Environment Art Mastery
Thiago is an industry professional who has worked at big companies like Ubisoft before, he also worked on games like Overwatch, and Starcraft II.
Environment Art Mistery is a great course for those who want to be an environment designer, level designer, or similar positions. You can learn so many things about creating 3D environments, texturing, creating props, and more about it.
I suggest buying the Advanced Edition of this course to get full access to what he teaches. You can check his course page for more.
Thomas Brush — Full-Time Game Dev
Thomas is one of the successful indie game developers. He made Neversong, and Pinstripe before and they all got pretty successful.
Full Time Game Dev includes so many things about indie game development, c# for Unity, game design, marketing, launching on Steam, how to create a successful business and so many tricks about the indie game business.
If you want to build your own game studio, I really recommend his course. It is a pretty long course also he updating the course since today, I think he will continue to do it.
If it is a bit expensive, you can check his YouTube channel, he gives discount codes in videos and live streams.
Smart Poly — Survival Game Course
Smart Poly is one of the good Unreal Engine developers on YouTube, and in his new course, he teaches everything about how to make a multiplayer survival game from scratch. If you are already familiar with Unreal Engine a bit, this course can give you strong practice and understanding of Unreal Engine and Blueprint systems in general.
It might look like any other Udemy course or standard game development course but it is not. Survival Game Course offers much more than that.
Also, right now the course has a pretty fair price if you don’t want to miss out.
There are also plenty of good courses for beginners. I would recommend GameDev TV courses for Unity and Unreal Engine.
